In September 2016, the UpLift Muslim Youth Group chose to take part in a year-long service project to support the Palestine Children's Relief Fund: Gaza Orphan Sponsorship Program.
After the 2014 Israeli raids on Gaza, hundreds of children were left without one or both parents. The orphan sponsorship program was created to provide support to struggling families after the death of a parent(s).
The money UpLift donates provides food, clothing, medication, and any other aid the child may need.
UpLift's sponsored orphan is Adham, a 10 year old boy.
Adham's father was killed as a result of an Israeli aircraft shelling in 2014 while returning from his work at a local farm. He left behind a widow and seven children. He was the sole breadwinner in the household. On the same day, Israeli aircrafts also hit the family's house, destroying it, leaving the children without a home, without a father, and suffering from psychological trauma.
The family depends upon the sponsorship money sent in through the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund for food, clothing, school and medical supplies, among other basic necessities.
Our goal is to gain widespread support of this project so we are able to sponsor as many children as possible.
We are calling upon all of you to join us on our mission. We ask for each co-sponsor to donate $10 a month for a year, or a one-time payment of $120. Will you help us make a change?

Sahl ibn Sa'd reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this," and he held his two fingers together to illustrate.
