بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Assalamualaikum, my name is Shoumic Khan. I am a graduate of the Tahfeez program from Masjid Attaqwa located in Doraville, Ga. I grew up in the city of Doraville and graduated from Dunwoody High. From there, I graduated from UGA with a degree in Financial Planning and Housing Management. Growing up in Doraville, I’ve been blessed to see the impact of the masjid on the community. Alhamdulillah, our city is blessed to have a strong and growing Muslim population.
Over the course of the 15 years, it has become increasingly apparent how important it is for us to get involved in the community and have proper representation in the political realm. Humbly, I would like to announce to all my brothers and sisters that I am running for City Council District 1 in Doraville. I am announcing to all of you because alone we are weak, but together as an Ummah, we are strong. I ask for your duas and support for all the challenges ahead.
I remember the stories our teacher used to tell us, stories of bold young men who defined what it meant to be a Believer. I remember being in complete awe hearing about their heroic attributes, bravery, and sacrifice. I realized how honorable it is to be a Muslim. We come from a long line of leaders that carried themselves with the utmost respect and dignity. We carry their legacy with us wherever we go. They are our forefathers who have left behind a rich history from whom we have inherited Islam. Let us follow our ancestors and once again become the leaders of tomorrow.
