Eid Al-Adha - THE GREATER EID
The Atlanta Masjid will celebrate Eid al-Adha on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
Eid al-Adha is the day after the standing of Arafat. Eid al-Fitr is connected only with the timing of the lunar calendar. While Eid al-Adha is likewise connected with the lunar Calendar, it is also connected with the sacred place and day of Arafat. Therefore the Atlanta Masjid follows the movements of the Hujjaaj who will be observing the day of Arafat on Monday,October 14, 2013 and celebrating Eid al-Adha October 15, 2013.
We are encouraged to fast on the day of Arafat. Join us Monday on the day of Arafat at 5:00 pm from Asr to Isha Salaat. The Atlanta Masjid will host a Family Iftar Potluck and Katim al-Quran (complete Reading of the Quran -114 surahs) in Arabic and English. Every family should bring a dish to share.
May Allah give us the full reward of these sacred days of Dhul Hijjah and accept the rights of the hajj from our Hujjaaj. Ameen.
