Assalamu Alaykum Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Insha'Allah we hope that you and your family are doing well by the many blessings of Allah Ta'ala. We want to invite you to a "cooking/preparing and serving food to an outdoor soup kitchen" program as part of a community service outreach in our area. We want to initiate getting a group of women/men, approx 12-15, to help cook ahead of time and serve food to the needy in the downtown area. This will be on the first Sunday of every other month. The next upcoming one being on August 3rd, 2014. We will be working under the banner of ICNA Relief. ICNA Relief works very closely with Giving Back To Humanity. ICNA Relief feeds about 150 homeless and hungry people in the inner city of Atlanta.

You may ask why do this program? Well, it brings us to a realization of the difficult circumstances faced by people in our society, issues like unemployment, health, marriage, and old age. The major symptom of all these issues is lack of money. Most of us don’t think twice about where our next meal comes from. We take all these niyaamahs of Allah Ta’ala for granted and until we see and be with people going thru these issues, it does not register! So, visits like these are check points for us to thank Allah Ta’ala for the countless blessings that He has bestowed upon us. Indeed, we ought to be grateful that He may have chosen one of us as an "Abd" to serve, so let us consider ourselves fortunate. Alhumdullilah!

Once you let us know if you would like to participate in this inititiative, we will send you a url link to the website that will guide you to the item/items you would like to contribute towards. It is a fairly simple and easy process.

Your participation in this program will requires 3 simple steps:

1. Select the item you would like to contribute and provide us your name and phone number
2. Prepare the food you have selected or purchase the item you are donating (recipes will be provided)
3. Deliver the item/items to the Suwanee Musallah in Suwanee on the scheduled date and time

The rest is taken care off by volunteers who will deliver the food to the location in the inner city of Atlanta and distribute it to the poor, homeless and hungry. Please feel free to bring your children and family members as we serve in downtown.

From an organizational perspective, here is what we will need:

• We will need a core group of about 5-6 people who will be able to volunteer their time every other month on the first Sunday to deliver and serve the food in downtown Atlanta.
• We will also need about 12-16 people who will be able to prepare/cook/buy the food items.
• We encourage your presence at the location so you can experience it first hand.
