May is Mental Health Awareness Month & we have planned an event that you will not want to miss. This family-oriented event at RCM on Sat. May 21st from 3-7pm will be open to children, adolescents, and adults.
**Please let us know if you would like to volunteer. (more details will be added soon!)**
Come out to watch "Inside Out" with your family and friends (from 3-5pm). It is a beautiful, touching film about emotions that we all experience. It is a film about each and every one of us and the feelings we all experience.
After viewing the film, we will split up into 2 separate panel discussions about the film - one for children (Pre-K to middle school) and another for youth/adults (high school and adults).
Our discussions afterwards (5-7pm) will focus on mental health stigma. We will have speakers who will be sharing their LIVED experience about mental health, mental illness and well-being. Their stories are powerful and will guide our discussion about stigma and acceptance. We encourage audience participation to make the most of this meaningful space.
We will also have licensed mental health professionals at the event iA to answer you and your family's questions about mental health services available locally, as well as general information about psychology/mental health.
Refreshments will be provided. This is a FREE event. Please spread the word!
Speakers include:
- Sr. Mariam Abdul-Aziz
- Sr. Ameedah Abdullah
- Br. Davis Vaughn
- Sr. Naa'ila Moumaris-Clay, M.S. Mental Health Counseling
...and more!
Looking forward to seeing you all there, insha'Allah (God willing).
