Event Description

The Emory Integrity Project is excited to welcome Shiza Shahid to Emory University! Shahid is a social entrepreneur and co-founder of the Malala Fund, and has been named Time Magazine’s “30 Under 30 World Changers,” and has made the Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneurs,” list. She is the mentor to Malala Yousafzai, author of I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban and Emory’s inaugural First Year Common Reading Program book.

We invite you to engage with this opportunity by attending her lecture on October 18, 2016 at 7:30p (doors open at 6:30p) at Glenn Memorial Auditorium (1660 N Decatur Rd, Atlanta, GA 30307). The event is open and free to the Emory community with their Emory I.D. and open to those outside of Emory with a valid form of identification. Additionally, the Emory Integrity Project has partnered with the Center for Civil and Human Rights (CCHR) to host a reception in Ms. Shahid’s honor prior to the lecture, at 5:30p at the Houston Mill House at Emory University (849 Houston Mill Rd, Atlanta, GA 30329). This event includes the opportunity to personally meet Ms. Shahid, as well as two tickets to the lecture with reserved seating, a copy of I am Malala, and membership benefits from the CCHR.
