Project South and Masjid Al-Mu'minun have a great collaboration coming up at MasjidAl- Mu’minun Thursday evening, July 25th, at 6:30pm. We will be having a film screening of the documentary ‘Newburgh 4.’ It’s a documentary about how young black Muslim men were entrapped by an informant who preyed on their small poor Muslim community in Newburgh, NY post 9/11. Preemptive prosecution, informants, poverty, and anti-blackness are major themes in the documentary.
We want to foster a discussion with the audience which also draws from their collective experiences with law enforcement and COINTELPRO. We also hope to have an important dicussion on narratives, the law, and the complex systems that work to criminalize black and brown people, Muslims, and the poor. Refreshments will be provided, and the location will be on mosque premises— 1127 Hank Aaron Dr SW Atlanta, GA. We are looking forward to you joining us!
