Please join the Coalition of Refugee Service Agencies (CRSA) as we celebrate and honor the vast contributions that refugees make to our communities for World Refugee Day 2019!
Enjoy delicious coffee and family-friendly activities as you meet your neighbors, hear from special guest speakers, experience incredible music and dance performances from community groups, and shop locally from refugee and immigrant business owners at our vendors market! Be sure to stick around for our huge group photo at the end to show just how much #GALovesRefugees!
Without the refugee resettlement program, these individuals we are lucky to have as neighbors—who enrich our communities and contribute to our state—would not be here. While we celebrate those who have been able to rebuild their lives here in Georgia, we must not forget the families who have been turned away from America’s door in their time of need.
The president set this year’s refugee admissions goal at just 30,000—the lowest number in 40 years of the resettlement program—and we are not even on track to meet this reduced goal. Congress must hold the administration accountable to resettle at least 30,000 refugees this year and commit to resettling at least 75,000 refugees in 2020, rebuilding the program and returning it to historic norms. We know you stand with us, ready to welcome, but will you join us in asking Congress: #WhereRtheRefugees?
Be sure to turn out on June 15 for opportunities to advocate for the refugee program and get more involved with our work. Now, more than ever, it’s important to celebrate the incredible strength and resilience of the refugee community, and to recognize the invaluable contributions that they bring to our state.
